So here I sit. Less than one hour from my 21st birthday. I sit here alone. With no drinks. I realize, it is just a day. Nothing more nothing less. The government abides by standards of age. You must be 18 to vote. You must be 21 to drink. Why is this. Why must the world be based on age. You can be 21 but not really mature enough to drink reponsibly. This bugs the hell out of me really. I drink with friends. That's about it. When I drink I might get a lil loud, but usually I am responsible. I drink to relax from work. My long stressful days workin on car electronics. I recently .. Recently being this morning attended an Austin hotel party, where I witness Rob, marine rob, drunk and stupid. Like running about upstairs when the people upstairs called security on us. Drunkin idiotcy. Immaturity showing through. DRINK RESPONCIBLY. PERIOD. END OF STORY. Days go by. Seem's like I just started school and we are already half way throught the school year. Been workin for Circuit City for 5 months now. Even if I do work my self to death there. 39h in 4 days. I enjoy it but I don't. It's work. I don't know what I want. I am out of my rehelm with car stereos. My manager thinks I am an idiot. Does not realize that I can comprehend the problems, just takes me a few minutes to rip something new apart. I have no SILs. I don't break cars because I don't rush. When I rush is when I have problems. blah. Just random thought. A look inside. A vent to the outside. Tomarrow I will be 21. The state of Maryland and the federal government says congrats. Go buy a beer. I'm getting old. I'm the oldest of the group I hang out with. the Monkey crew. Nick is the runner up with his B-day being 5.26. Even my gf is younger then me. Not that she drinks. I don't care. I really like her. She so sweet and caring and drama free. Just wish I spent more time with her. But thats my fault for workin so much. Crap its almost 12 and I have to write an english paper still. I can write its not a problem just this topic sucks. Comparing the Hmong family life to American family life. blah. I think its time for sleep. Considering I am running on like 4 hours of sleep in the last 2 days. blah. |

Too bad the foreign liquor salesmen won't even sell you alcohol ON your birthday...been waiting so long and they are telling you to wait a few more hours. damn them.... |

Pat, you're completely right on this. Age is really a means to measure experience. Sadly, some people experience a lot more, a lot sooner than others. The government just picks an age that they are comfortable with. It use to be 18 for drinking but I think a lot of kids died that year due to alcohol related deaths, i dunno. But congrats on the 21st man- i'll be the first to say that we are all a fucking hell of a lot more intelligent and intellectual than most 25 year olds. Sad.  |
